Use the slider to adjust the RAM size for the virtual machine. RAM allocation should be within the green zone, so that your primary OS can run smoothly without slowdowns.

To install Linux Mint on the virtual hard disk, click on 'Create the virtual hard disk' option. If you have installed it before, use this option to load the existing .vdi file.

Select the type of file for the new virtual disk. Virtual Disk Image is our preferred type for start.

Choose storage size for the virtual disk. Dynamically allocated and fixed-size options are available. Dynamically allocated is our preferred option for limited storage capacities when switching between OS'es.

Name the new virtual hard disk and select the size for the virtual hard disk. Doing so limits the maximum storage that can be used by the virtual machine.

Choose the Linux Mint on VirtualBox and tap on the Settings icon on top.

Click on the Storage section and choose the empty controller and click on the storage button once again. Browse for the Linux Mint ISO file you previously saved on your computer.

Once configuration is complete, click on the 'Start' button on top of Virtualbox app to boot up the Linux Mint operating system. This will boot-up the installation disk.

II. Installing Linux Mint on Virtualbox Application

Double click on the "Install Linux Mint" button to begin the installation process.

Select your preferred language option and tap on continue.

In next step choose the keyboard layout for your new Linux Mint installation and tap continue.

On next step check to install third-party applications in the future. This option also helps in installing critical drivers for the OS. Click on Continue to move on to the next step.

For beginners, choose to 'Erase disk' to install a fresh OS. Enable encryption if required. If you're comfortable in setting up logical volumes and partitions, choose 'Something else' to set up partitions and click "Install Now" to proceed.

On the next step, select a country to set the OS timezone for your new installation.

Then on next step enter login credentials like your name, computer's name, username, and password for the user account. This account is the default for the new OS.

Now the installation process of Linux Mint begins. The installation process takes time to complete depending on your hardware.

On completion of installation, boot up the OS by clicking on the 'Show' button in the VirtualBox application.

Now you can log in to your Linux Mint account by entering your username and password set during installation. If you have encrypted the OS, first it will ask for the disk decryption key.

Enjoy the freedom of Linux Mint experience.
